You will need to bring your child’s or children’s Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate, Immunization Records and your proof of residency. At the time of application, the Student Fees will be due. ($160 Book/ Testing fee and $35 computer fee for a total of $195 per student.) You will also be asked which method of payment you will use to pay tuition.
Q: What are the finances involved in sending my child or children to Most Precious Blood School?
A: Tuition is based on the number of children from your family attending MPB, please see the chart below for details. Tuition is used for school expenses including teachers’ salaries and health insurance costs. Tuition however does not cover all of our expenses, but fund raising and assistance for the Archdiocese of New York help to make up the difference. There are options on how you may pay tuition. The FACTS Tuition Management Company handles all our tuition collections and offers options such as paying all at one time, on a monthly basis, via direct debit to your checking or savings accounts or by credit card.
Student Fees: There is an annual $160 Book and Testing fee per child, up to three children. New York State mandates certain testing but does not provide funds to cover the expense. Additionally this fee helps to cover the cost of Iowa testing, books not covered by the school districts, i.e. religion books, art supplies, music supplies, paper, classroom supplies, and Student Information System costs.
Computer Fees: There is also a $35 computer fee per child, up to three children. We have an excellent computer lab, computers in all classrooms and smart boards in two classrooms. We also have current teaching software for all grades. This fee helps to maintain and update our educational hardware and software.
Parish Support: the MPB Parish supports the school, financially but also administratively. There are three ways for a school family to fulfill the parish support responsibility.
1. School families who are members of MPB parish: $700.00 a year for those who choose to be non-active parishioners, or $500.00 per year for those who are registered parishioners who consistently attend Sunday Mass. The $500.00 amount works out to be about $10.00 per Sunday. Those who are active parishioners typically participate in the life of the parish and contribute in other ways, i.e. special collections, so the designated amount is lower. Tracking of participation begins in September and will be monitored monthly. Those who do not consistently participate de facto opt for the $700 subsidy amount.
2. School families who are members of other Catholic parishes: Neighboring parishes pay $500.00 per child, per year. You will be given a subsidy form to give to your pastor for his signature. As long as you are a contributing member of your parish, the pastor should sign the form and pay your portion.
3. School families who are not Catholic: the $500.00 per child per year is included within your tuition payments.
Bingo: Each school family is required to work Bingo. Your commitment is to work generally once a month either on a Sunday or Tuesday afternoon or Friday evening. You will be placed onto a Bingo team from July through June. Bingo goes directly to the school; without Bingo, tuition would be about $1,000.00 more per child.
Parent Guild Fundraising: Please see additional information regarding participation in this year’s Parent Guild Fundraising efforts to support the school. Without this fundraising, tuition would be at least $400.00 more per child.
Q: Is my child eligible for busing?
A: You must apply for busing to MPB from your school district of residence no later than April 1st. Forms are completed with your child’s application. Proof of residency is now required. According to New York State Education Law your school district may bus up to 15 miles from the school and does not have to guarantee busing for students whose form is received after the April 1st deadline.
